T-Mobile's network credentials are real. In the first half of 2026, Ookla named T-Mobile the best overall mobile and 5G network in the United States, with a median 5G download speed of 314 Mbps. T-Mobile won the Southeast and Southwest outright and tied with Verizon in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and West, while Verizon led the North Central region. Volume 2, released in July 2026, tightened the race: Verizon took the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic outright (T-Mobile had won or tied both in Volume 1) and held North Central, leaving T-Mobile ranked highest in three regions: the Southwest outright, and the Northeast and West tied with Verizon. For businesses, those credentials translate to a connection that handles the most common workloads, such as video calls, cloud applications, point-of-sale systems, email, and shared document platforms. Small business users report download speeds ranging from 150 Mbps to more than 300 Mbps in areas with strong 5G coverage. That is more than enough bandwidth for a team of five to ten people running typical office applications simultaneously.
A trade-off: shared infrastructure
Where T-Mobile Business Internet differs from a dedicated
fiber connection is in how it handles shared capacity. Your signal travels on the same towers that serve T-Mobile's mobile subscribers. During peak hours, speeds can drop. T-Mobile's network management policy also deprioritizes service to accounts using more than 1.2 TB of data in a billing cycle when the local network experiences congestion. That soft threshold resets each month, and most small businesses will never hit it, but high-usage operations that perform large daily backups or run constant video streaming should factor this in. Coverage availability
T-Mobile's 5G Business Internet is available nationwide, though eligibility at individual addresses varies. Some addresses may qualify for 5G service; others in the coverage area may fall back to 4G LTE. A small number of locations will not qualify for service at all.
