Ah, the age old question: Are internet and TV bundles worth it?
Sure they are, but only for households that actually want live TV. In our internet and TV bundles 2026 comparison, an Xfinity or Spectrum package beat a live-TV streaming stack by roughly $14 to $18 a month while the promotional price lasted. Households that skip live channels would pay $60 or more extra for the same bundle.
Here is the math, and the point where the savings disappear.

For decades, the cable “triple play" of internet, TV, and phone was the default. Streaming broke that habit: about 42% of U.S. households still had traditional pay TV in 2026, down from roughly 88% in 2010, according to eMarketer estimates [1].
Internet providers responded by rebuilding the bundle around streaming. Xfinity’s December 2025 lineup includes the set-top box and takes $10 off each TV package when you add another Xfinity service, such as internet [2]. Spectrum’s Stream TV Signature plan includes ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, and Peacock [3].
Pricing also became more transparent after the FCC adopted its “all-in" pricing rule in March 2024, which requires cable and satellite providers to show the total video price, fees included, as a single line item [4].

Is a Cable TV Bundle Worth It Compared With Streaming?
A cable TV bundle is worth it only when you want live channels, and even then, the margin is slim. Your internet bill is the same either way, so the useful bundle vs. streaming cost comparison looks only at the TV layer. Basically, what live TV costs through your provider versus through streaming.
The streaming side uses YouTube TV at $82.99 a month [5]. Add-ons use current ad-supported prices: the Disney+/Hulu bundle at $12.99, HBO Max at $10.99, Peacock at $10.99, and Netflix at $8.99 [6]. This internet and TV bundle vs. streaming snapshot reflects published prices in October 2026, so confirm your own before buying.
| Household | Bundle TV cost | Streaming cost | Winner |
| Xfinity Sports & News ($90, minus $10 bundle discount) vs. YouTube TV + Peacock | $80.00 | $93.98 | Bundle, by $13.98/month |
| Spectrum Stream TV Signature (12-month promo) vs. YouTube TV + Disney+/Hulu + HBO Max + Peacock | $100.00 | $117.96 | Bundle, by $17.96/month |
| Light streamer: Netflix + HBO Max, no live TV, vs. Xfinity Sports & News | $80.00 | $19.98 | Streaming, by $60.02/month |
In the Xfinity bundle vs streaming matchup, Sports & News includes Peacock Premium, so the streaming column adds it to YouTube TV. Is the Spectrum TV bundle worth it? During the first year, yes: it replaces four separate subscriptions. The light streamer shows the other side of internet plus streaming vs. cable bundle math. Skipping live TV saves roughly $720 to $960 a year.

When Does the Promo Rate Erase the Savings?
The bundle’s lead is real, but fragile. Xfinity’s advantage is about $14 a month (roughly $168 a year), and Spectrum’s is about $18 (roughly $216 a year). If your price rises by more than that when the promotion ends, streaming wins. A hypothetical $50 jump would hand streaming a ~$32-a-month lead on the Spectrum plan.
Fees matter too. Xfinity states that its broadcast TV fee is excluded from promotional pricing and can increase, and that equipment charges can rise even during a promotion [7]. Streaming prices also move: Disney+ and Hulu raised prices on September 23, 2026 [8]. That is the core of cord cutting vs. bundle savings. Neither side’s price holds still, so recheck every 12 months.
A bundle tends to win in three situations:
A bundle tends to become a lot less lucrative when you watch two or three streaming services and little live TV, when the promotion ends and the rate jumps, or when fees and extra TVs raise the monthly bill. A free over-the-air antenna also covers local channels in many areas.

Should I Bundle Cable and Internet? A Four-Step Check
Before you decide, run this quick test:
The cheapest internet and TV bundle depends on which internet providers serve your street, and internet prices vary by address. Use our guide to compare internet providers for an internet comparison of speeds and prices.
If you decide to bundle, our internet and TV bundles page lists current packages. Our Xfinity and Spectrum reviews cover plan details for two of the best internet providers. Compare internet plans from at least two providers, since a TV discount on a weaker internet plan is not a win.

It depends on live TV. In the October 2026 comparison above, bundles saved $14 to $18 a month for live-TV households during the promotional period. Households without live TV saved about $60 a month by streaming.
Not always. Xfinity’s 2026 packages include the set-top box, but its broadcast TV fee is excluded from promotional pricing. Spectrum notes that equipment and fees may apply. Ask for the all-in monthly price before you sign.
The price reverts to the provider’s standard rate. Spectrum’s Stream TV Signature price, for example, covers the first 12 months only. Set a reminder a month ahead, then compare your renewal price against streaming.
Yes. Live-TV streaming services such as YouTube TV work with any internet connection, and a free over-the-air antenna picks up local broadcast channels in many areas.
