Equipment, Installation and Bonus Features
Every AT&T Business Fiber plan includes a Wi-Fi gateway (AT&T's WNC-CGW452 converged gateway) at no additional monthly cost. This device handles your fiber connection, Wi-Fi broadcast, and 5G backup failover. It connects to an optical network terminal (ONT) installed outside your building, which terminates the fiber line.
A note on equipment tiers: some third-party sources reference an "All-Fi" mesh Wi-Fi upgrade on higher-speed plans. That upgrade is confirmed as part of AT&T's residential Fiber lineup as of mid-2026, but it is not confirmed on AT&T's Business Fiber product page as of this writing. If mesh Wi-Fi for a larger space matters to you, confirm current equipment options directly with AT&T before assuming it's included. The 5 Gig plan can reach up to 4.7 Gbps to a single wired device via Ethernet; wireless speeds max out lower depending on device capability.
What comes standard with every plan

- Installation is free when ordered online; a $99 technician fee applies otherwise and is frequently waived through current promotions
- Month-to-month billing with no early termination fees on Business Fiber plans
Built-in 5G backup keeps you online
This feature automatically switches your connection to AT&T's 5G network if your fiber service drops. Failover happens without manual intervention and without requiring your devices to reconnect. This protection stops if your power goes out, since the gateway itself needs power to operate. AT&T's terms note that backup speeds may be reduced during network congestion; AT&T does not publish a specific monthly data threshold for this feature, so confirm current backup data terms directly with AT&T before relying on it for sustained, high-volume use.
AT&T ActiveArmor security
AT&T ActiveArmor is included at no extra charge on Business Fiber 300 Mbps and 500 Mbps plans only. This network-based security tool scans your traffic 24/7, blocks known malicious websites, detects suspicious activity, and identifies vulnerable devices on your network. Confirm with AT&T which account management app or portal applies to your business plan, since app names and features can differ between AT&T's residential and business product lines.
Installation timeline
If your location is fiber-ready (AT&T can confirm this when you order), installation takes about 2–3 weeks and involves a technician placing an ONT and gateway at your site. If construction is required, expect 90–120 days. A professional installer tests your speeds before leaving your site.
