About the author
If you lost your Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) benefit when it ended in 2024, you’re not alone. Millions of households across the country are now searching for the next best option to keep internet costs manageable. If Frontier serves your area, there’s good news: you may not need a special low-income program to get an affordable rate.
Here’s what you need to know about getting cheap internet through Frontier, including the one government discount still available, a step-by-step guide to applying, and what to do if Frontier isn’t the right fit for your household.

No. Frontier does not have a dedicated low-income internet program the way some other providers do. There is no Frontier equivalent of AT&T Access or Spectrum Internet Assist.
That said, Frontier’s entry-level fiber plan is priced low enough that many households don’t need a special program to afford it. The Frontier Fiber 200 plan starts at $29.99/month for the first 12 months with no credit check and no annual contract required. For a fiber internet plan with 200 Mbps download speeds, that’s a genuinely competitive price, regardless of income.
After the 12-month promotional period, the price increases to $39.99/month. That’s still lower than what many providers charge for comparable speeds, so the rate hike is less dramatic than you might expect elsewhere.

The Lifeline Program
Frontier doesn’t run its own low-income program, but qualifying customers can apply the federal Lifeline benefit to their Frontier bill. This is the primary way to reduce your monthly internet cost below the standard $29.99/month price.
Lifeline is a federal government program administered by the FCC that provides eligible low-income households with a monthly discount on phone or internet service. The standard benefit is $9.25/month off your bill. Households on Tribal lands may qualify for up to $34.25/month.
Lifeline is not the same as the ACP, which ended in 2024. Lifeline is an older, ongoing program.
You may qualify for Lifeline if your household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, or if you or a member of your household participates in one of these qualifying programs:
Only one Lifeline benefit is allowed per household, not per person.
If you apply Lifeline’s $9.25 monthly discount to Frontier’s Fiber 200 plan, your bill drops to approximately $20.74/month during the promotional period. After the 12-month intro rate ends, the $39.99 standard rate minus the Lifeline discount brings your bill to roughly $30.74/month, which is close to what many people pay for much slower cable internet plans.
Applying for Lifeline through Frontier involves two steps: getting approved through the National Verifier and then submitting your application to Frontier.
The fastest way to get approved is through the government’s online portal. This is run by USAC (Universal Service Administrative Company), the organization that administers Lifeline on behalf of the FCC.
You’ll need to provide:
Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation and can move on to Step 2.
After receiving your National Verifier approval, you’ll need to submit a Lifeline application directly to Frontier. Frontier provides a PDF application you can complete and submit. You can find Frontier’s Lifeline application form on their website or by calling Frontier customer support at 1-800-921-8101.
Submit the completed form along with your National Verifier approval confirmation. Frontier will verify your eligibility and apply the discount to your account.
Lifeline requires annual recertification to confirm you still qualify. USAC will notify you when it’s time to recertify. Missing the deadline can result in losing the benefit, so mark your calendar when you sign up.

When the promo ends
Frontier’s Fiber 200 plan starts at $29.99/month, but that price is promotional. After 12 months, it increases to $39.99/month.
This is worth knowing upfront so you’re not caught off guard. A few things to keep in mind:
Frontier pricing is accurate as of March 2026 and is subject to change.
If Frontier fiber is available at your address, it’s worth serious consideration even without a formal low-income program. Here’s why:
The main limitation is availability. Frontier’s fiber network is not available everywhere. Enter your zip code below to see whether Frontier internet plans are offered at your address.
If you’re paying too much for internet, or trying to fill the gap left by the end of the ACP, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Does Frontier have a low-income internet program like AT&T Access?
No. Frontier does not offer a dedicated low-income internet program with special income-based eligibility requirements. However, Frontier does participate in the federal Lifeline program, which provides a $9.25/month discount for qualifying households.
What happened to the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), and can I still get that discount on Frontier?
The ACP ended in June 2024 after Congress did not renew its funding. The benefit is no longer available from any provider, including Frontier. The Lifeline program is the main federal internet discount still active. Unlike the ACP, which offered up to $30/month off, Lifeline provides $9.25/month for most households ($34.25/month for those on Tribal lands).
